Discernment and Care for Others - Our October Hero!

Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.

This month we are proud to spotlight Sergeant Dana Purvis!

From the Savannah Police Department:

Sgt. Dana Purvis has been with the Savannah Police Department since September 2007. She has served in a variety of roles in her time at the department and is currently the supervisor of the Special Victims Unit.

Sgt. Purvis exhibits outstanding service and unselfish devotion to her job. She frequently goes above the normal requirements and has contributed to the department significantly. Recently, she did just that when a frequent caller to headquarters expressed that she lost her keys and had possibly left them in an Uber, resulting in her not being able to get into her house.

Sgt. Purvis came in as a civilian employee was taking the phone call and she began listening to the conversation. The caller was distraught over the situation and was starting to not make sense, while continuing to get increasingly upset. Sgt. Purvis was able to convince the caller to give her address and simultaneously got an officer in that precinct to respond to the address. Upon officers’ arrival, they quickly ascertained that the caller needed a medical evaluation. Officers calmed the caller down and arranged transport to a hospital.

Sgt. Purvis’ actions after recognizing a need for assistance led to the caller quickly getting needed medical help. It is an example of the outstanding judgement she continues to display in her daily work.

About the initiative:

Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our digital billboard network.

It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
