Making a Meaningful Impact in the Community - Our January Hero!
Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.

This month we are proud to spotlight Officer John Aguilar!

Officer John Aguilar joined the Savannah Police Department in 2020 and is currently assigned to the Northwest Precinct. During his time at SPD, Officer Aguilar has shown a tremendous amount of growth as an officer and is proactive in his duties, leading to direct results on crime. He is not only an asset to his watch, but also to the department as a whole.
Officer Aguilar continually puts forth his best effort by taking initiative on tasks or jobs that need to be completed during his shift. He is an overall proactive beat officer, who is familiar with his beat and continually takes steps to gain information about the community he serves and to gain the trust of citizens in West Savannah neighborhoods.
During a nationwide car theft surge in 2022, Officer Aguilar recovered 27 cars throughout the downtown and West Savannah areas. He has also proactively apprehended auto theft and entering auto suspects. In December, he was filling in for another officer on his day off when he happened to notice two men walking around vehicles with flashlights downtown. He continued to observe the men and witnessed one enter the vehicle. He immediately approached and took one into custody. In the summer of 2022, Officer Aguilar assisted in coordinating an undercover operation to apprehend entering auto suspects in the Northwest Precinct. He has also worked on several other operations throughout the city.
Officer Aguilar continues to strive daily for excellence and shows continual growth in his responsibilities and skills. He is always professional and has a positive attitude.

Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our digital billboard network.
It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
