Stepping up in a Time of Need - Our January Hero!

Updated: Apr 18, 2022

Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.

This month we are proud to spotlight Officer Amanda Fonseca-Quinn!

From the Savannah Police Department:

Officer Amanda Fonseca-Quinn has been with the Savannah Police Department since September 2019 and is currently assigned to the Northwest Precinct. Officer Fonseca-Quinn is an overall hard-working and proactive officer. Since she began working in the Northwest Precinct, she has made great efforts in the initiative to address the city’s homeless population who visit and reside in the downtown area. Her efforts have assisted the precinct in identifying and removing homeless individuals who cause problems for other residents and who engage in criminal activity.

Although all of her work and efforts are commendable, it was the specific actions she took during a call to a residence on Shellbark Way on Nov. 28, 2021 that led to her nomination as Officer of the Month. When Officer Fonseca-Quinn arrived at the residence she found an expectant mother in the middle of giving birth. EMS was on the way, but the mother and other family members were concerned that the baby, who was already crowning, had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. At the time, the baby was turning purple and they knew that time was of the essence. During the entire incident, Officer Fonseca-Quinn remained calm as she helped walk the mother through the birth and safely deliver a little boy. By the time EMS arrived, the mother was cradling the infant in her arms. Although EMS immediately took mother and son to the hospital, the officer checked up on them later and made sure that the new parents were taken care of and the little boy she helped deliver got a good report from the hospital. She was pleased to find that all were given a good report from the hospital.

About the initiative:

Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our digital billboard network.

It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
