Meet our February Honoree!

Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.

This month we are proud to spotlight Advanced Police Officer Allen Childs!

From the Savannah Police Department:

APO Childs, who has been with SPD for more than three years, has proven himself to be a team leader for his watch at the Central Precinct. On several occasions he has remediated officers who had low performance. After his mentorship and guidance, the officers have excelled as patrol officers. Officers on his watch often lean on him for his knowledge and insight into decision making.

While working on light duty due to an injury, APO Childs refocused his efforts toward a more investigative role. During that time he assisted Central Precinct’s intelligence analyst and monitored radio traffic to assist officers with city camera support. His support continued by completing case files and other administrative obligations that would otherwise impede officers from focusing on their patrol obligations.

APO Childs has been recognized on multiple occasions by his supervisors and peers for outstanding job performance that exceeds the standard for normal patrol duties in order to address problematic issues in the Central Precinct. He is a great example of what it takes to become a leader in an organization.

About the initiative:

Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our extensive digital billboard network.

It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
