Going the Extra Mile - Congrats to our August Hero!

Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.
This month we are proud to spotlight Officer Samantha Sosbe!
From the Savannah Police Department:
Officer Samantha Sosbe is the current Neighborhood Resource Officer for Savannah Police Department’s Southside Precinct. In that role, part of her job includes community outreach, attending and speaking at community meetings, and educating individuals and businesses on public safety measures; however, Officer Sosbe has continued to go above and beyond the duties in her role.
Officer Sosbe has on multiple occasions organized drive-by parade celebrations for members of the community ever since COVID-19 prevented officers from visiting in person. She has helped organize celebrations for everyone from young children to the elderly. In July she learned that a police-loving little boy who she had previously met at National Night Out was turning 7 but couldn’t have a party or get the bicycle he so desperately wanted because of COVID-19. With only a few days’ notice, she was able to arrange for the boy to receive a bicycle hand-delivered by police officers on his birthday.
In the past she has helped other children receive bicycles after theirs were stolen in crimes. Her outgoing personality has helped her to create bonds with many community members in her precinct and has helped to increase their trust of officers. She is also active on the precinct’s Facebook page, making sure Southside residents are aware of everything from police safety issues to missing pets and severe weather advisories.
One of her biggest accomplishments, according to her supervisors, is her knowledge and experience dealing with those with mental health issues. She always encourages individuals who are struggling to get help and is always there for anyone who wants to talk. She is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team with enhanced-level training as well as training in youth crisis intervention. In addition she is on the Dive Team, Hostage Negotiation Team, Peer Counseling Team and is on the City of Savannah’s LGBTQ+ Taskforce.
Officer Sosbe is a great asset to the department and continues to display her commitment to improving the lives, safety and health of Savannahians.
About the initiative:
Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our digital billboard network.
It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
