Serving Communities Near and Far - Our February Hero!

Updated: Apr 18, 2022

Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.

This month we are proud to spotlight Officer Jason Zimmerman!

From the Savannah Police Department:

Officer Jason Zimmerman has been with the Savannah Police Department since December 2019 and is currently assigned to the Eastside Precinct. Throughout his time as a patrol officer, Officer Zimmerman has displayed core values of selfless service. This is not just in his day-to-day interactions, but also in his community efforts.

In December, Officer Zimmerman, who was touched by a recent string of deadly tornadoes that passed through Kentucky, began to explore ways to provide assistance to the families who had lost homes, possessions and everyday essentials. With the department’s permission, he organized and led relief efforts, collecting essentials, personal hygiene items, food, bedding and clothing. In addition to collecting donations from police officers, he partnered with Compassion Christian Church to increase the number of collections. On collection day, Officer Zimmerman rented a 26-foot U-Haul trailer, which he loaded top to bottom and front to back with items. He then personally drove the items to the tornado-damaged area and delivered them to law enforcement agencies between Mayfield and Bowling Green, Kentucky.

This act of kindness and selfless service is a testament to Officer Zimmerman’s moral character and fortitude. His hard work and dedication to excellence make him an invaluable member of his precinct and this department.

About the initiative:

Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our digital billboard network.

It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
