Putting Her Vast Skillset to Use for Others - Our December Hero!

Renfroe Outdoor, in conjunction with the Savannah Police Department, is proud to announce our newest honoree in the Savannah Heroes program! Each month, we will highlight a member of the local police force on our extensive digital billboard network for their outstanding work in serving and improving our communities.

This month we are proud to spotlight Officer Angel Cross!

From the Savannah Police Department:

Officer Angel Cross has been an officer at Savannah Police Department since 2020 and is currently assigned to the Southside Precinct.

In December 2021, Officer Cross was assigned to Beat 44. Since that time, that beat has shown an 18 percent decrease in incidents, which is the second largest decrease department wide. Since then, there has been a 38 percent decrease in larcenies, a 23 percent decrease in entering autos, a 33 percent decrease in larcenies from yards, a 50 percent decrease in larcenies from buildings and a 60 decrease in other larcenies. She is proactive and has made multiple felony arrests that include removing guns and drugs from the streets and has apprehended entering auto suspects while the crimes were in progress.

Officer Cross is not only caring about this community but also spends her time assisting other units with their investigations and helps future officers prepare for their law enforcement careers. In the past, she has purchased flowers to give to widows she met that reside in her precinct and might need a little something nice to show that someone cases. She is fluent in several languages, including Spanish, and has assisted detectives in translating interviews. Officer Cross often volunteers her time to assist in teaching defensive tactics to officers in training. As a certified instructor for Gracie Survival Tactics, she continually works to keep her skills sharp and will coordinate defensive tactics training sessions in her watch to build cohesiveness as a unit.

In addition, Officer Cross became the first and only female SPD officer to qualify for and pass the SPD Patrol Rifle Class.

About the initiative:

Renfroe Outdoor is proud to partner with the Savannah Police Department in an initiative to honor our local heroes. Each month, this program will highlight an outstanding officer in our community chosen by the Savannah PD and recognize them across town with our digital billboard network.

It is of the opinion of the management of Renfroe Outdoor that most media outlets are too eager to cover the wrong stories relating to the police. While all public officials should be held accountable for their actions, there are far more positives that can be said about the local police than the negative. With this program, Renfroe Outdoor hopes to help foster a growing positive relationship between our citizens and the men and women who put themselves in danger to protect them each day.
